On October 14, paraglider Marshall Mosher captured on video a dog on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. The incident quickly became viral on social media platforms. Many found it hilarious that a random stray made it atop one of the Seven Wonders of the World. However, some were concerned about whether or not the Anubis Pup was doing alright.
‘Anubis pup’ earns fame after being spotted atop Great Pyramid of Giza
When Marshall Mosher started his paragliding adventure over the Great Pyramid of Giza, he didn’t expect to see a stray dog atop the massive structure. What made the Instagram reel all more hilarious was the pup casually strolling on top of the pyramid. He didn’t seem stuck or distressed, almost as if the activity was part of his daily routine.
Built over 4,600 years ago and standing at 455 feet tall, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest one in Egypt. As the paraglider soared through the sky, he was recording his adventure. He spotted the canine on top of the pyramid, taking to Instagram to share his amazement. Mosher also asked his followers if they think the pup “lives up there.”
Netizens dubbed the dog on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza as the Anubis Pup. Many joked about the paraglider having encountered the Egyptian god of the underworld, Anubis, while on his adventure. Anubis is usually portrayed with a canine’s head, which is where the jokes stem from. However, many were concerned the dog might be dehydrated and requested Mosher to check up on him.
Their worries were soon put to rest, as Mosher revealed in a follow-up video that he saw Anubis Pup climbing down on his own. Moreover, Instagram creator @retreatours captured the canine climbing down in another video. They exclaimed, “It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump for them and it’s good place to get away from the crowds!”
