A viral video on Instagram shows a pet owner realizing why his rescue dog gets on his back for belly rubs. Earlier this year, Mike Brown of Santa Monica adopted a dog, Cactus, through the help of a rescue called Pups Without Borders. The organization reportedly found the canine in the deserts of California.
Brown shared on Instagram that his ride with the puppy was just about “fostering for a few weeks” initially but later became a “full-time adoption.” Cactus’ dog dad has been sharing their journey ever since and only recently dropped this touching video.
Viral video shows dog getting on his back every time his owner pets him
In this emotional video on Instagram, Brown revealed why their rescue dog got on his back while getting pets and belly rubs. The post was a compilation of multiple short clips of the dog dad trying to play with Cactus. The text on the video was from the owner’s point of view explaining the reason behind the canine’s actions. At first, they said, “I’ve been trying to figure out why my puppy always gets on his back for belly rubs.” The dog owner revealed that their rescue dog lay on his back every time they were “petting him or playing with him.”
Brown then stated that they knew there was a “reason” for Cactus doing this and only figured it out after watching one of the first videos he recorded of their pet. Next, the dog dad shared a clip from the day they picked up the canine from the puppy rescue. They finally pointed out that the first thing their pet did after getting out was “get on his back. Just like he does now.” They further elucidated that the rescue dog “feels safe” in that position — lying on his back — even today.
In the caption, Brown shared more about knowing many dogs who” like to get their belly rubbed.” But, they wrote that they have “never seen any get into this position as much as him.” Brown said it only made sense to them after coming across this video of the day they rescued the dog.
Cactus’ journey with his dad since his adoption from the rescue is one for the memory books. The duo shares regular life updates and unlimited fun videos on the canine’s Instagram account to spread joy and happiness.
