Pet-friendly spaces have seen a significant rise in popularity over the past few years, and for good reason. More people are looking for ways to include their dogs in everyday activities, from cafés to hiking trails, and now, even zoos. A new video of two famous Golden Retrievers enjoying a dog-friendly zoo visit shows just how much happiness these inclusive spots can bring to pets as well as their humans.
Golden Retrievers enjoy their dog-friendly zoo visit in viral video
Ellie and Emma, the internet’s favorite canine duo, returned to social media feeds on May 11 with a new adventure that quickly went viral. The video showed the two Golden Retrievers exploring a zoo, with the opening text inviting viewers to “come with Ellie and Emma to a dog-friendly zoo.”
The first moment of curiosity struck when Ellie found herself nose-to-glass with a lioness. What followed is a montage of the two dogs taking in the sights and sounds of the zoo. They watched seals swim, sniffed some sheep, and observed meerkats, camels, and more. In the clips, the pair was being gently led by their leashes by their owner.
At one point, a mysterious sound grabbed their attention. The video built a hint of suspense with the text overlay reading that they “had to investigate.” The investigation took them past giraffes, emus, elephants, pelicans, and even a fake life-sized lion poster that Emma sniffed curiously.
Just as they were about to give up, the final shot revealed a peacock behind the calls. Not only was it the one behind the mysterious sound, but it also got surprisingly close to the two pups. However, before they left, their owner treated Ellie and Emma to soft toy souvenirs from the gift shop to mark the fun day.
The video of the Golden Retrievers visiting the zoo racked up more than 11.8 million views and over 744k likes. Moreover, fans flooded the comments with their reactions. “This is the best thing ever,” one user wrote. “How great they get to have these experiences and not just sit home.” Another joked, “My only problem with a dog-friendly zoo is that I’ll likely be paying more attention to the dogs than the zoo animals.” Someone else was inspired, saying, “Omg. I’ve got to take my baby beagle to the ZOO.”
