Shelter dog wags his tail despite being ‘let down by people’

In a recently shared video, the Humane Society of Broward County shared the story of their shelter dog King, who is patiently waiting for a better life after going through heartbreaking hardships. The sweet “5-year-old gentleman” has unfortunately “been let down by people over and over again.” The animal shelter shared that while living as a stray, King was “bullied” by the kids in his neighborhood. They even “shot at him with BB guns.”

After the horrifying ordeal, King was “eventually found injured and alone at a common dumping ground.” The shelter added that the pup was “left like he didn’t matter.” The video also revealed that five of the BBs’ shots “are still lodged in his head.” The clip included an X-ray scan of King’s skull. Despite everything he went through, the canine is “still gentle,” “still sweet,” and “still trusting,” the shelter heartwarmingly penned.

Moreover, the touching video even showed King looking with kind, hopeful eyes and wagging his tail at one point. He is now at the shelter and “dreaming of a better life.” The shelter continued to share that King is facing “yet another hardship in a life full of them.” He has sadly been battling heartworm. To make matters worse, another setback recently struck King. The pup was “surrendered again” by a family who said they “didn’t have time for him.”

After bravely surviving the hardships, King is “still waiting for someone” to choose and keep him and to “love him like he’s always deserved.” Furthermore, the Humane Society of Broward County also highlighted that they will provide King’s heartworm treatment for free, even after his adoption.
